HARMONICA PLAYER FROM ZEN WORLD

Nobuyuki ¡ÈBob¡É Ohashi was born in Tokyo, Japan. He grew up in a blue-collar, industrial part of Tokyo. When he was a kid, his hero was then World Junior Middle Weight Boxing Champion, who lived in the same town. Bob and his friends always chased after the boxer!

Most of Bob¡Çs friends loved fighting and boxing, and their school life was in chaos.

But Bob found his own thing. In the early 80¡Çs he met amplified blues harp sound. Magic Dick, the killer player of J.Geils band, was Bob¡Çs first idol. After listening some good rock music, he fell in love with blues. In the blues world there are too many great harmonica players! He started to play blues harp and formed his first band with his classmates. At first he taught blues harp by himself, and then he participated in ¡ÈJapanese harmonica legend¡É Mr. Koichi Matsuda¡Çs workshop for two years.

In 1987, Bob won championship at Horner¡Çs Harmonica Contest. He has established his own deeply amplified sound. Bob moved to Osaka (the second largest city in Japan) in 1988, and performed lots of gigs at local clubs.

In 1991 Bob returned to Tokyo. He formed his new band and started to write songs. He performed at venues, street festivals, and sometimes on streets. He plays blues, soul, funk and jazz with ¡Èzen¡É oriented sounds.

Bob has some recording experience such as TV commercial and sound track. In 1995 he performed at the pre-stage of Park Tower Blues Festival (one of the biggest blues festival in Japan).

Bob has played with lots of good Japanese musicians and decided to expand his world much more. He moved to Manhattan, New York in 1997.

If you are looking for something different or real music, now is the time to contact Bob. He is seeking opportunities to play his harp. You will be satisfied with his awesome sound!!
